Chapter 2 - Ensuring your Own Career Development

Human sometimes make the wrong judgement when choosing their career path. When human need to make decision, they`re sometimes rushing the decision their choose and it make them regret later and that is how most of humankind do their living. We as human need to learn how to take decision seriously, and that is apply too when we choosing our career path. This is important to understand if you are developing your own career and trying to get the company you work for to invest in your growth and development. It’s equally as important if you are the people manager or senior executive developing others.
Today i want to share how to make what I think career development is, and some of the things I have done to do it effectively, and provide resources, tactical recommendations, and links that you can use right away to start managing your own career development.
What is Career Development?
Base from book called 'Career Development and Counseling: Putting Theory and Research to Work' published by John Wiley & Sons.inc,"Career development can be seen as a process that encompasses much of the life span-one that begins in childhood (and includes the formal and informal experiences that give rise to talents, interests, values, and knowledge of the world of work), continues into adulthood via the progression of one's career behavior (e.g., entry into and adjustment to work over time), and culminates with the transition into, and adjustment to, retirement. It is a concept designed to capture the dynamic, changing nature of career or work behavior and is sometimes used as incorporating career choice and at other times as distinct from it."
Career development is process that It’s not a “one and done” but rather, interactive and continuous process. Career development, at its core, is about setting goals and acquiring the skills to achieve those goals.

In a world where the pace of change continues to accelerate, we all need to continuously and proactively acquire knowledge and skills in order to stay relevant. Furthermore, all of us have our own goals, for our life and the work.
